Inflation in Poland accelerated to 4.1% year on year in September 2026, up from 3.4% in August. RMF24 reported the figures from Statistics Poland, known as GUS, on 14 October. The annual inflation rate therefore rose by 0.7 percentage points.
Prices also increased more quickly compared with the previous month. According to RMF24, consumer prices rose by 0.7% in September compared with August. The monthly increase in August had been 0.3%.
The two measures cover different periods: the 4.1% figure compares prices with those a year earlier, while the 0.7% figure shows the change over a single month. CPI, the Consumer Prices Index, measures the overall change in prices paid by consumers — it does not mean that every product or service became more expensive by exactly the same amount.
RMF24’s report does not include a breakdown of price changes by category or explain why inflation accelerated. The headline figures alone therefore do not show which types of spending contributed most to September’s increase.
