King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh suspended operations until further notice following an attack on Saturday 10 October 2026. Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority confirmed that several people had been injured, according to BBC and Deutsche Welle reports citing its statement.
The number of casualties and the extent of their injuries were still being assessed. No date was given for operations to resume, leaving passengers planning to travel through the Saudi capital facing disruption and uncertainty.
Deutsche Welle reports that Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways and Kuwait Airways cancelled some flights. Passengers with bookings to Riyadh or connections through the airport should check their flight status directly with their airline before setting off.
The US embassy warned American citizens not to travel to the airport or the surrounding area. Both the BBC and Deutsche Welle reported the warning.
Responsibility for Saturday’s attack had not been conclusively established. Deutsche Welle noted that, at the time of its report, the Houthis had not issued a direct statement about the incident. Claims attributing the attack to them should therefore not be treated as confirmed.
