Russian attacks hit Kharkiv and Lviv region, killing at least three in Kharkiv

Russian air attacks on Kharkiv left at least three people dead and 37 injured, according to Euronews. The strikes took place on Monday 12 October and overnight into 13 October. Residential buildings were damaged, and rescuers were still searching for people beneath the rubble. Euronews also reports a drone attack on Murovane in the Lviv region, where two homes caught fire.

Three cars were also damaged in Murovane. According to information cited by Euronews, no injuries were reported there. The figures of at least three dead and 37 injured apply only to Kharkiv, rather than to both locations. In Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, a five-storey building was damaged. Fire spread through a ground-floor bank and several vehicles, and flats in neighbouring blocks had their windows shattered.

The search in Kharkiv continued with emergency services, police, bomb disposal teams and dogs taking part. In the Kholodnohirskyi district, an entire section of a four-storey residential building collapsed; three bodies were found in its ruins. With people potentially still beneath the rubble, the death toll was not final. Euronews says a responder from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service was also injured during the operation.

Figures for the wider wave of attacks

Ukraine’s air force, quoted by Euronews, said Russia had launched five ballistic missiles, nine Banderol loitering munitions and 108 drones from the evening of 12 October. Its statement said 88 drones had been brought down or neutralised through electronic warfare. The air force identified 17 locations hit by strikes and another seven where debris landed.

The air force figures cover the wider wave of attacks that began on the evening of 12 October. They do not mean that all the missiles and drones listed were directed at Kharkiv and the Lviv region.
