A London jury has found Russell Brand guilty of one count of rape and three sexual assaults. The verdicts were delivered on Thursday 5 November 2026. The British actor and comedian was acquitted of other charges and will be sentenced separately.

According to The Guardian, the verdicts followed a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court, a criminal court in London. The offences of which Brand was found guilty involved four women.

Not all charges resulted in guilty verdicts. France 24 reports that Brand was acquitted of two counts of rape and one count of attempted sexual assault. Those acquittals are separate from the four offences of which the jury found him guilty.

Brand had denied the charges. According to the reports, he maintained that some encounters were consensual and that some events had subsequently been portrayed differently.

Sentencing expected on Monday

The Guardian reports that the judge said sentencing would take place on Monday. Both outlets report that he indicated Brand would receive a substantial prison sentence. However, no prison term had yet been announced: Thursday’s verdicts determined guilt, rather than the length of the sentence.

According to The Guardian, Brand was taken down to the cells after the verdicts.
