Poland chosen for planned PAC-3 missile servicing centre, defence minister says

Poland has been selected as the location for a future centre servicing PAC-3 missiles used in Patriot systems, according to Deputy Defence Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak. Her statement, posted on X on 27 October 2026, was reported by Polsat News. The announcement concerns the choice of host country, not the opening of an operational facility.

According to Sobkowiak, four countries competed to host the European centre: Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway. She said Poland’s bid had received the highest assessment at the application stage. The account of the competition’s outcome and the assessment of the bids comes from her statement.

The deputy minister also said negotiations had lasted many months, with regular contact maintained with the US side throughout. She said she had been appointed lead negotiator, presenting Poland’s selection as the result of those talks.

The planned centre would service PAC-3 missiles used in Patriot systems. The announcement therefore concerns missile maintenance facilities, rather than the delivery of new weapons or the establishment of another defence unit.

The statement quoted by Polsat News gave no specific site within Poland, investment cost or construction timetable. The statement quoted by Polsat News also gave no date for the start of operations. While Poland has been named as the intended host country, it remains unclear when the centre would be ready to service missiles.
